At 17:30 on August 7, 2026, the “Yiguan Heluo · Luoyi Guofeng Cultural Gala” — a Hanfu culture and Guofeng fashion pageant — opened at Luoyi Ancient City in Luoyang. Jointly hosted by the Luoyang Hanfu Research Institute and the Model Professional Committee of the Henan Provincial Garment Industry Association, with multiple cultural-tourism, cultural-promotion and Hanfu-industry enterprises as co-organizers and supporters, the event draws on Luoyang’s millennia-deep ancient-capital heritage and borrows the “boundary-free runway” format from avant-garde fashion tourism to build a fully immersive, borderless Guofeng experience. Luoyang, long called the divine capital of the Tang, positioned the gala as a city-branding move that blends heritage with youth-oriented tourism.
The gala fielded an unprecedented lineup: 200 professional models alongside top-tier styling and imaging teams, using the old city’s streets, bridges and pavilions as natural stages to create a “one scene, one runway; one step, one view” audiovisual experience that interprets the beauty of Chinese dress and the grace of Hua Xia ritual. The show broke the limits of a fixed T-stage, turning Jinchang Street, Liulin Street, Lide Bridge and Lide Court into open-air runways. Each setting — a stone bridge, a quiet court, a lantern-lit lane — became its own chapter of moving tableaux.
The main show unfolded across four chapters, layering a panorama of how Han Chinese dress evolved over a thousand years. Chapter one, “Shengtang Huayao · Datang Yiguan” (Glorious Tang · Tang Court Dress), reproduced classic Hanfu forms from early to high Tang to revive the majesty of the divine capital. Chapter two, “Baida Yiguan · Lichao Yayun” (Robes of Ages · Elegant Charm of Dynasties), staged restored Hanfu of the Han, Wei-Jin, Song and Ming periods, surveying a millennium of sartorial lineage from the Han through the Ming. Chapter three, “Mengying Huashang · IP Yinghua Yaxiu” (Dreaming Fabrics · Screen-IP Pageantry), fused widely known costume-drama IP looks into story-driven runway scenes that lifted both atmosphere and shareability. Chapter four, “Jinyun Xinzhai · Huaxia Xinshang” (New Tailoring · New Han Dress), focused on Xinzhongshi (new Chinese-style) and adapted Guofeng garments, dialoguing classical aesthetics with contemporary fashion for a closing that felt current rather than museum-bound.
After the main show, models opened a citywide roving parade guided by NPCs, weaving through bluestone lanes and bridges. Visitors no longer sat to watch but met Hanfu finery around corners while strolling the old town, feeling traditional dress up close. During the event, the organizers used Douyin, Xiaohongshu and Channels accounts to spread Luoyang’s Guofeng tourism highlights through live streams, quick-cut clips, behind-the-scenes footage and high-definition films, polishing the “Luoyang Guofeng” city-culture brand. Short clips of the roving parade circulated quickly on local social feeds, with viewers praising the “Hanfu in the streets” format as more intimate than a seated theater show. Local media noted the parade drew steady crowds along the lantern-lit lanes well past the scheduled close.
The gala is both a heritage performance and a fresh attempt at Luoyang’s cultural-tourism breakout, letting the Heluo cultural vein glow with new life in the new era.
