On July 18, the Shunde District Museum launched its first “Guochao Party — Xiangyunsha Chic Shoot” event. Sixty citizens recruited through online registration entered the museum wearing Xiangyunsha (gambiered Canton gauze) or traditional Chinese attire, exploring the Yunsha Miying — Xiangyunsha Thematic Culture Exhibition hall and the Shunbo · Tangxian Xiangyunsha Lifestyle Gallery. The exhibit hall instantly transformed into a photography studio and the displays became check-in spots.
Organized by the Shunde District Museum with support from Guangdong Tangxian Xiangyunsha Culture Communication Co., Yuanju Hanyou Han Culture Company, and the Daliang North District Hanfu Society, the event introduced an innovative “guided tour + free shoot + mission challenges + craft workshop + public welfare benefits” model. A professional guide first led participants through the exhibition, covering Xiangyunsha’s historical origins, ancient craft techniques, and cultural significance. Visitors then shifted into free creative mode, photographing across the exhibition corners, display cases, and lifestyle gallery.
Four NPCs dressed in Xiangyunsha were stationed throughout the venue, interacting and taking photos with participants. After completing four designated mini-tasks, participants unlocked exclusive premium Xiangyunsha cultural creative gifts. Participant Chonglou and her friends said: “Museum visits used to be just looking. Today we truly stepped into the exhibition — the guide explained Xiangyunsha’s traditions, and the mission-based experience felt both fresh and fun.” Mother Ms. Yang brought her child, noting: “The activity was both entertaining and educational. Wearing Hanfu to the museum felt like stepping back in time.” Her child stitched a sachet by hand at the crafting station as a souvenir.
The event ties into the Shunde District Museum’s broader 2026 transformation. In May, the museum converted its former lecture hall into the “Shunbo · Tangxian Xiangyunsha Lifestyle Gallery,” re-creating living room, study, and tea-room scenes inside the museum. The museum’s content logic has shifted from “one-way delivery” to “co-creation.” The Yunsha Miying exhibition was co-curated with 22 enterprises and 13 representative inheritors. A Xiangyunsha-themed script-based game now lets visitors role-play as sunning-plantation heirs and fashion designers exploring the culture firsthand. Xiaohongshu has become a core promotion channel, with live photo feeds freely accessible via QR codes.
From “come and see” to “come and play,” the Shunde District Museum is evolving from a “cultural warehouse” into a “cultural stage,” using Xiangyunsha — an ICH textile — as a medium to engage younger audiences through immersive museum experiences.
