From July 18 to 20, the Jiangnan Song City historical district in Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province, kicked off the “Night Tour Jiangxi — Trends and Fun Season,” a major cultural tourism consumption festival that blends traditional Chinese dress, Song Dynasty cultural elements, and modern entertainment.
The event is organized into four themed sections. The first, “Trendy Cultural Tourism Market,” runs from July 18 to 20 at the Junmenlou area of Jiangnan Song City, gathering specialty markets from all 11 cities of Jiangxi Province. Offerings include digital cultural tourism exhibits, creative ICH crafts, travel route exchanges, local agricultural products, and Hakka cuisine tastings. Guofeng (Chinese-style) parades and stage performances run throughout the day.
The second section, “Song City Night Banquet — Trendy Twin Streets,” launched on the evening of July 18 across Jiangnan Song City and Yangming Road Night Market. Its highlights include a Hanfu parade running alongside a robot parade — a striking visual contrast of traditional costume and cutting-edge technology. The night market also features a food street, a retro-themed flash mob performance, a sunset camping zone, and a World Cup broadcast area.
The third section, “New Guochao Scenes Across Jiangxi,” runs from July 18 to 20 at Junmenlou Square. Historical figures from the Song Dynasty — including the poet Xin Qiji and the national hero Wen Tianxiang — are portrayed by costumed NPCs, engaging visitors with poetry recitations and photo opportunities. A Song-style aesthetic costume runway and a dedicated Hanfu fashion show bring ancient elegance to the modern stage. Knowledge quizzes and on-site lucky draws offer limited-edition creative souvenirs.
The fourth section, the “Ticket Stub Benefits Program,” continues through August 18, covering designated scenic spots, hotels, and restaurants across Ganzhou. Visitors can exchange payment receipts for prize draws, with top prizes including hotel accommodation packages and water park tickets, while consolation prizes include creative gift boxes and local beverages.
Ganzhou’s Jiangnan Song City is one of China’s best-preserved Song Dynasty historical districts, with its ancient city walls, traditional architecture, and cobblestone lanes providing an atmospheric backdrop for the night tour activities. The district has become a flagship destination for guofeng cultural tourism in Jiangxi, regularly hosting Hanfu gatherings, traditional craft workshops, and seasonal festivals that attract thousands of visitors.
The Ganzhou Jiangnan Song City event represents a growing trend in Chinese cultural tourism: the integration of Hanfu culture, historical reenactment, and immersive technology to create engaging summer experiences. By combining traditional costume parades with digital and interactive elements, the festival offers visitors a multi-sensory journey through the Song Dynasty legacy while supporting local consumer activity. Organizers recommend visitors arrive early to avoid peak evening crowds and to stay hydrated during the hot summer months.
