A bit of Chinese culture in almost every Western household
One item that many Western households have that originates from Chinese traditional culture is porcelain or china dinnerware.
And another one is incense!
Do you have any of these in your household? 🙂

I am no history buff, but I think incense was not invented in China 🙂

hi, thank you for the comment. Yes, incense probably originated in Egypt (or Southern Asia…who knows.. :)), so I made a mistake. However, many people use the “traditional chinese type of incense” – that was the thought behind it (poorly executed, I admit). 😉

Chinese Fantasy Books
Hi guys, do you have any recommendations for Chinese fantasy novels? 🙂
I’ve recently finised The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang, it was great, especially the chinese culture theme.
Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao is also on my list but it’s a long long list… 😀 …and I would like to add more Chinese authors.
Thank you in advance. 🙂

Linen vs. Chiffon
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if you could share your insights and recommendations about which material you think is better for a simple “one-piece” hanfu (like Zhiju Pao, Jin & Wei dynasty hanfu,…).
I usually see that it is made out of chiffon or linen. Chiffon seems to be very delicate but flowy, on the other hand, linen is more sturdy but perhaps less airy. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you! 🙂

I prefer chiffon because if it’s a one-piece robe, flow is also an important factor.

If you want it simple, I would go with linen. It seems more practical to me. But it depends on what style you want to make (noble x common).

Thank you! I haven’t thought about it that way – noble x common, but now I sure will. 🙂
